Money Follows the Person Success Story

Don is a Money Follows the Person (MFP), a person with Cerebral Palsy.  He was in the nursing home for 7 months before returning home.  In his home, he was no longer able to use the walk-in bathtub. He was receiving only sponge baths for roughly 4 months until MFP connected him with Community Action. Through MFP, we assisted Don in applying for CDBG Accessibility Assistance Program as well as gathering the verification’s needed. The services requested and received resulted in the remodel his bathroom in March 2017.  We asked that Dons walk-in bath tub be removed and a roll in shower be installed. We also asked that the flooring in his bathroom be re-done, as it was soft and was sinking in. In June 2017, his bathroom was completed. The bathroom is now safe and accessible for him. MFP also provided Don with a shower chair to use in his new shower.
